American Lake Veterans Golf Course

A Place for Healing, Connection, and Community.

Located on the grounds of the VA Hospital in Lakewood, Washington, the American Lake Veterans Golf Course provides more than just a place to play.

Through golf, rehabilitation, and community, we support veterans facing both physical and emotional challenges—helping restore confidence, connection, and purpose.

A Course With a Purpose
The American Lake Veterans Golf Course has been part of the VA Hospital grounds in Lakewood, Washington since the mid-1950s, originally created as a place of relief for veterans returning from service. Over time, it became a valued space for healing and connection—but in 1995, federal funding was withdrawn, and the course began to fall into disrepair.
Refusing to let it be lost, a dedicated group of volunteers stepped in to preserve and rebuild what the course could be. In 2003, a nonprofit organization was formed to restore and sustain the space. Today, the course stands as a volunteer-powered community focused on rehabilitation, support, and connection—serving veterans from all generations with a renewed sense of purpose.
Our Story

Clubhouse, Rehabilitation & Learning Center
A Welcoming Space For Veterans
Built through the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, the Clubhouse, Rehabilitation & Learning Center serves as the heart of the American Lake Veterans Golf Course. Since opening in 2010, it has provided a welcoming, fully accessible space where veterans can connect, recover, and engage in both recreational and therapeutic golf activities.
Rehabilitation And Training Opportunites
At the center of the facility is a shared lobby that functions as both a check-in hub and a social gathering space. Surrounded by comfortable seating areas, it offers veterans a place to connect before and after their time on the course. A dedicated rehabilitation area includes a Full Swing Golf Simulator, putting spaces, and training stations—allowing for year-round practice and therapy for individuals of all abilities.
Designed For Accessibility
Designed with accessibility and community in mind, the clubhouse features ADA-compliant locker rooms, administrative spaces, and an outdoor patio for gathering and support. More than just a facility, it serves as a place where veterans can build relationships, find encouragement, and restore a sense of connection and purpose.
